The official launch of the brand “Sea Festival 2024 – The Origin, Heading to 500 Years” was attended by the mayor of Santa Marta, Carlos Pinedo Cuello; the Secretary of Culture, Darío Linero; the Secretary of Tourism, José Domingo Dávila; he Secretary of INRED, Hideraldo Espinosa; and the Captain of the Sea 2023, Daniela Restrepo Henao.

According to the District Mayor’s Office, In this year 2024 the Sea Festival will be a reflection of the historical and cultural value that is desired to be recovered in Santa Marta through the activities that will be carried out July 25 to 29:
- 15 activities designed to strengthen culture, sports, tourism, entertainment and economic development of the city
- Beach sports competitions with 12 disciplines and more than 1,000 athletes
- Sample of traditional Samaria cuisine
- Presentation of the largest drum symphony in the world with more than 200 musicians
- Traditional folk parade through the main streets of the city with special guests
- Academic meeting to highlight the history of Santa Marta and its traditional festival

In her speech, the Captain Daniela Restrepo highlighted the importance of these 500 years to promote unity and teamwork among the Samarians. He also welcomed Laura Angulo, who will represent the city in these festivities.
These festivities aim to ravoid the identity and prestige of Santa Marta, and also turn the city into an epicenter of culture and fun for all its inhabitants and visitors.
