Several weeks ago, a teacher in the municipality of Montañita, in the department of Caquetá, had to leave her students, not because of acts of violence, but because of sexual harassment by the rector of the same institution. A complaint held by WEEK warns of a shameful fact that is in the power of the Prosecutor’s Office and that the Government of Caquetá, apparently, preferred to ignore.
The complaint leaves the rector of the Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro school, in Montañita, as allegedly responsible. This is Mr. Arvey Majé and the victim is a professor who had only been in the position for a few months, but who, upon taking office, had to tolerate, according to the complaint, the rector’s insinuations, loaded with obscenities and liquor.
“In the context of the conversation on February 7, 2024, morbid comments arose again and even, at some point, Mr. MAJÉ refers to the complainant in the following terms: “that’s it, drink beer so that cake will bite you.” . He makes insinuating comments to her such as: “why is he looking at me like that” in a clearly flirtatious tone,” states the complaint against the rector.
A few weeks passed and the advances escalated, leading to harassment and attempted abuse. On one occasion the rector arrived at the teacher’s house, taking advantage of an invitation that the teacher made to her colleagues at her school. It was at that moment where the rector, according to her complaint, lunged at the teacher to try to kiss her. She rejected him and the response was chilling: “I got horny, let’s go to his room to fuck.”
“Despite the above, Mr. ARVEY MAJÉ went to the complainant’s room, lay down arbitrarily on her bed and at the moment when the woman approached to move him and remove him from there, he took her by force until he “She managed to break free and retreat to where everyone else was,” warns the complaint held by the Prosecutor’s Office.
The scene ended when the rector, apparently in a high state of intoxication, ended up lying on the teacher’s bed, asleep and without responding to the teacher’s calls for him to leave her house. The teacher, anticipating what was about to happen, left everything in videos and audios that she shared with the Prosecutor’s Office.
In the images he obtained WEEK You can see who would be the rector Arvey Majé in bed, lying down, as if he were in his own home, not where the teacher he harassed minutes before. The rector did not leave, but what he did when he woke up shocked the teacher. The detail was also on video.
“The rector defecated in his bed and spread his feces on the sheets, on the bed frame, in the trash can in the bathroom and bedroom, on the bathroom curtains, on the pillow that he had left on top of the sofa bed and on a belt from her bathrobe and even shrapnel of shit all over the floor of her room. “He urinated and left two puddles of urine in the room, one on the rug and the other at the end of the room, behind a clothing parapet,” appears in the complaint.
On video, the teacher left evidence of the fecal barbarity on her bed, her clothes, the curtains and the urine, apparently from the rector as revenge for not acceding to her sexual demands. The images are disturbing, but they warn of a traumatic scene for the teacher who warned the Departmental Secretariat about what happened.
“Despite this, the fear, stress and anxiety derived from the sexual and psychological harassment caused by the situation, led to a deterioration in his physical and mental health, as he entered a state of constant panic and a general nervous breakdown, materializing in diarrhea, vomiting and headaches,” states the complaint that became a formal investigation.
What do the authorities say?
WEEK contacted the governor of Caquetá, Luis Francisco Ruíz, the secretary of education, Jackeline Ortiz and the press office of the Government, none of them responded, despite exposing the serious complaint against the rector, the evidence that exists and the risk for the victim. The victim’s lawyer explained that, ironically, in this case the one who ended up being investigated by the Departmental Secretariat was the teacher and not the rector. The teacher had to flee, says the defense, because of the risk that existed and that was made evident with the videos, audio and testimony that the teacher presented.
