On Friday, June 14 died at 91 years old one of the founders of the Children’s Cardio Foundationhe Dr Camilo Cabrera Polanía.

To talk about this news, W Weekend spoke with him Dr Juan Gabriel Cendales, director of the Children’s Cardio Foundationwho recognized the importance that Cabrera had in Colombian and world cardiovascular medicine.

According to Cendales, there were many exploits of Dr. Camilo Cabrera Polanía, who until his last days continued to walk the corridors of the Foundation.

“He performed very complicated surgeries. We were introduced to one of the patients he operated on when he was 2 years old, a very complex operation., but he is alive and contributing to society. That is his contribution,” he said.

How do you see the future of cardiovascular surgery in Colombia?

“It is a super specialty that has more and more therapeutic alternatives. Trading 35 years ago was a very difficult thing. “Colombia has very good cardiovascular surgery, we are a reference in the region,” he indicated.
