This is what Civic Day will be like this Monday, after the title achieved by Atlético Bucaramanga.

As announced by the local president, Jaime Andrés Beltrán Martínez, and the governor, Juvenal Díaz, Civic Day was decreed for this Monday, June 17, for the purposes of “the celebration and commemoration of obtaining the first title of the professional team “Atlético Bucaramanga soccer team.”

This after the ‘leopard’ team won the championship last night in the penalty shootout, after losing 3-2 in regulation time and, in the shots from the white point, Aldair Quintana saved two shots, winning 6-5 and became the great figure of the meeting.

According to Decree 0179, “Civic Day means that no work activities or customer service will be carried out in the Municipal Central Administration, which is why this Monday, June 17, will be considered a non-business day.”

Exceptions from the shift are public servants who, “due to their functions, must permanently comply with special work schedules and shifts, as well as the personnel in charge of those contractual processes that must be carried out without interruption, which will continue according to previously established schedules.

The Government of Santander did the same by issuing Circular 54, signed Sandra Patricia Quirós Marín, administrative secretary, in which it is specified that there will also be no attention to the public in the Sectional Administration.

What does it mean that this Monday is ‘Civic Day’?

That government workers and contractors will have a day off, except for those engaged in emergency organizations. In that sense, entities and officials whose objective is to provide essential public services, such as police, public health, mobility, security and disaster prevention, will continue their work as normal.

It is important to highlight that a Civic Day should not be confused with a holiday. During this Monday, commerce will open its doors, urban transport will function normally, as will banks. Only that it is likely that each entity defines special hours that they must inform their respective clients.

Many private entities are also urged to allow work schedules to be made more flexible, so that some of their employees have a certain facility to participate in the celebration events of the first star of Atlético Bucaramanga.

For now, the streets of Bucaramanga today and tomorrow will continue to be painted yellow and green; and the celebrations don’t stop.
