Like a month ago, when visits were allowed to the entire public, the Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was completely packed yesterday.

On this occasion, the building, which occupies just over 7 hectares in front of the Martín Miguel de Güemes Airport, received its main authorities for the Dedication ceremony.

For this, the Church, led by Prophet Russell M. Nelson, commissioned David Todd Christofferson, who is a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, a body that, along with its prophet and two counselors, make up the main nucleus of authority of said congregation.

Between May 3 and 18, the church opened its doors so that the people of Salta could see the inside of the temple, which attracted more than 30 thousand people who visited the property, both from this city and from the provinces of the region and even from other countries, such as the United States, Samoa and Hawaii.

In statements to the media, Apostle Christofferson was happy to be in Salta, a province where he was a missionary in 1965. “We are a Christian religion, we follow the steps of Christ; Therefore, we are brothers,” he said, while highlighting the “great spirit of cordiality” of the Salteños.

“The presence of these people is only one part since the ceremony is transmitted by various electronic means. That is to say, there is a significant number of people who follow our broadcast, not only in Salta but also throughout the region. For now it is our third temple in Argentina, so it is of great importance throughout the region,” he added.

“Incredible potential”

I came to Argentina in ’65 and I got to know almost the entire country. Today a lot has changed, especially Salta. Argentina has incredible potential. Although he is going through a critical moment, we know of the enormous capacity of Argentines to move forward,” recalled the Apostle, who served as a missionary on his first visit.

“Salta is like a homeland that I have, because I also have many friends and even a Güemes poncho. I know they are going through difficult times, but they will pass because they are very hardworking, very devoted and faithful people.

We can help build a better future. The idea is that the members of this church are the best citizens of the country “to take care of economic progress, but also spiritual progress; If we are good disciples of Christ we will be able to contribute in everything to a better country

The third built in the country

The Temple, which the people of Salta saw being built from November 4 to December of last year, when the work was completed, was now enabled only for the members of said church. In it, wedding ceremonies and sealings will be carried out for families for eternity, among other ordinances.

With two more, in Buenos Aires and Córdoba, Sata “is the third that remains in operation in Argentina,” explained Christofferson, who announced that a fourth Temple will be dedicated very soon in Mendoza, while the construction of the temple is expected to be completed. two more, in Bahía Blanca, Buenos Aires and Rosario, in Santa Fe.

At a general level, the Salta Temple is number 194 of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints worldwide. Its design was inspired by the local environment and cultural motifs.

The architecture of the temple reflects the rich heritage of the Salta region, with design elements such as the cardón flower, a prominent plant in the area, and the decorated “guarda pampa”, which is traditionally used in regional costumes and crafts.

The color palette incorporates shades of blue, green, yellow, red and ochre, reflecting the vibrant tones of the local landscape. As the temple takes shape in Salta, it stands as a symbol of spiritual importance and a testament to the community’s dedication to its religious beliefs.
