Given the recent rains recorded in the last few hours, leaving damage in the corregimental area of ​​Valledupar, the Municipal Administration responded to the call of the communities and announced the immediate intervention of the stream channel in the towns of Guacoche and Guacochito, to prevent future flooding. .

Officials from the Government Secretariat went to the scene, in coordination with volunteers from the Red Cross, Civil Defense, Police and National Army, attended to the affected areas such as Guacoche, Guacochito, Las Raíces, Los Corazones, Villa Germania and the Sabanitas village, with the in order to evaluate and mitigate the damage caused.

Likewise, critical points were identified as streams that require intervention. These areas are especially vulnerable to overflows and need remedial measures to prevent future flooding and protect local communities.

Likewise, the Risk and Disaster Management Office is implementing specific interventions in the event of any natural disaster. The actions include cleaning and strengthening channels, as well as the construction of containment barriers at strategic points, all with the aim of minimizing the risk of future disasters.

Jorge Pérez, Secretary of the Government of Valledupar, reported that a technical visit was made to the affected townships with the operating entities to review the intervention with the machinery bank and clean the stream in Guacoche and Guacochito, as a definitive action to reduce the risk of flooding.

Likewise, he warned that there is allegedly a blockage at the mouth of the Badillo and Cesar rivers, an area that will be inspected together with Corpocesar to achieve an intervention in the short and medium term.
