Casanare needs a more autonomous justice system, better connected and with a more robust structure » PRENSA LIBRE CASANARE

Judge Gerson Chaverra Castro, president of the Supreme Court of Justice, visited Yopal last Friday, where he met with local judges and magistrates to address the needs of the judicial system in Casanare.

During the meeting, three main requests from judicial officials stood out: establish their own sections of judicial administration and the Judicial Council, increase staff and improve digital connectivity.

The digital divide was one of the central points of the meeting. The Casanareño judges pointed out that the lack of robust connectivity directly impacts the efficiency of the justice service in the region, a common problem in peripheral areas of the country. Gerson Chaverra recognized the seriousness of the problem and promised to take this concern to the corresponding authorities in Bogotá.

On the other hand, the Casanare judges expressed the need to become independent from the Judicial District of Tunja, arguing that having their own branches would allow for more efficient administration of resources and more agile attention to the daily demands of judicial offices. This request seeks to improve the response capacity of the local judicial system in the face of growing demand in areas such as civil, criminal and family law, where work overload is evident despite efforts to create new courts.
