At the shows Hernan Cattaneo that took place this weekend at the Forja Complex were used biofuels for electric power generation. This allows us to reduce the carbon footprint and mitigate the effects of climate change.

To this end, last week, prior to the first show, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services, the Provincial Energy Company of Córdoba (EPEC), and BNP Eventos, signed an agreement with the objective of promoting the use of biofuels and educating about energy transition.

The initiative promotes the development of sustainable events and shows in the province and thus encourages the migration from the use of fossil fuels to energy from renewable sources with lower greenhouse gas emissions.

The purpose of these actions is to determine the impact of different types of fuels on the final emissions of these equipment and in this way promote the use in mass shows of those fuels with the least impact on the environment and health.

These actions form a second step in terms of the promotion and use of renewable energies in mass shows, providing in this instance concrete indicators of the use of biofuels to continue a path towards the energy transition and sustainable events.

It should also be noted that another relevant objective of this collaboration is the generation of awareness about the importance of accelerating the energy transition towards clean energy, thus promoting the circular economy, thus addressing the challenge of climate change.

The signing of this agreement was led by the Minister of Infrastructure and Public Services, Fabián López; the president of EPEC, Claudio Puertolas; the musician DJ, Hernán Cattaneo and the managing director of the BPN production company, Hector Biastrocchi.

The agreement also establishes joint actions for dissemination and education on renewable energies. Likewise, it seeks to promote the use of biofuels, in line with the guidelines of Provincial Law No. 10,721 that are developed in this regard through the Córdoba Bioenergy Executing Unit of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Services.

Gas measurement

During the shows, combustion gas analyzes were carried out on the electrical generators used for different event spaces. The generators run on Premium Gasoil, B20 (GO Premium with 20% Biodiesel) and B100 (100% Biodiesel).

The analysis carried out includes the measurement of sulfur dioxide content, nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, particulate matter, gas kinetics and the determination of dry weight and humidity of the gases.

The Secretary of Energy Transition, Pablo Gabutti, and the coordinator of the Biofuels and Bioenergies Execution Unit, Mariano Santillán, among other attendees, also participated in the event.
