During the days of Friday and Saturday, a specialized team from the Local Service and Executive Management were touring the establishments that had problems in their infrastructure as a result of the strong wind and rain storm that hit our country.
“We have been on the ground reviewing the impact that this bad weather front had on our establishments and in permanent coordination with our educational communities through their directors and the Seremi of Education, for which reason on this Monday we are going to request the suspension of classes with recovery of five establishments, these are: Laguna Verde Intercultural School, Syrian Arab Republic School, Comprehensive Adult Education Center, Grecia School and the Bicentenario Marítimo High School of Valparaíso,” said the Executive Director of SLEP of Valparaíso, Daslav Mihovilovic.
In this last establishment, during the day this Saturday, work began to remove the disused material from the fourth floor with the purpose of preventing future detachments of infrastructure that were in poor condition and that are part of the arrangements that the establishment will have with the conservation project that begins to be carried out during the second half of this year.
Added to the above are the efforts regarding the resources that will allow the roofs to be repaired, based on which, a tender has been raised (currently published in the public market) that seeks to meet the different needs in
improvement of roofs of 36 establishments of this Service, which will make it possible to correct the different leaks that today exist in classrooms, offices, common use spaces, among others. The above, with a budget of $1,000 million, already committed from the Central Level that is close to being transferred.
“With respect to the Grecia school, it is necessary to note that during the summer of this year, a project to repair its roofs was already carried out, with an approximate investment of $60 million that allowed many of the educational spaces that were previously rained upon, Not today, however, it is also true that given the magnitude of the damage this establishment has
educational, which had no maintenance for decades, the costs required for a comprehensive repair are much higher, that is why we are managing a roof conservation project for $200 million more, which considers an execution of $50 million during this year 2024 and $150 million during the year 2025, additionally with respect to the CEIA, the place where they are, a replacement project is needed, given the deterioration of their property it is impossible to carry out a conservation project, so during this second semester will have to be relocated to another place in Valparaíso,
given that where they are, they cannot resist being able to maintain the community for longer,” he added.
“Finally, in relation to the Liceo Bicentenario de Valparaíso, it has a Conservation project, which should begin this second semester, which has been prioritized given that it is known that they demand urgent intervention, unfortunately on the ground we confirmed the deficient level that the interventions carried out by previous administrations, since the current need to repair its roofs, gutters and walls makes this conservation project that we have budgeted to execute within the next few months very urgent,” he concluded.
