The security forces of Corrientes continue the desperate search for Loan Danilo Peña, the five-year-old boy who disappeared three days ago and there is hope that he will be found alive. Three adults, the last who would have been the last to see him alive, were detained by the Corrientes police.
The information on the main suspects was confirmed by the provincial Minister of Security, Buenaventura Duarte, who held a press conference with the local police chief, Armando Molina, to coordinate different details of the operation.
Duarte highlighted that the detainees had been present at a family lunch for Saint Anthony’s Day and stressed that the testimonies presented inconsistencies between them. In addition, he highlighted that “a very strong operation is being carried out, since we believe that the boy is still in the area.” José Peña, the child’s father, confirmed that the suspects are his brother-in-law and a couple who are friends. Buenaventura added that “one of the elders said that Loan was with them, they peeled an orange from her and at one point she disappeared.” Likewise, the prosecutor’s office made progress in raiding the homes of the three detained persons, but the operations came back negative.

Since the early hours of this Monday, a search began on National Route 123, in the vicinity of the town of 9 de Julio where police and firefighters are inspecting several homes. Although no significant progress was found, a muddy sneaker was found in the area of the disappearance that was confirmed to belong to Loan and, in addition, footprints were found.
In this case, the Ministry of National Security, in coordination with the Federal Search System for Missing and Missing Persons (SIFEBU), activated the Sofia Alert Program and firefighters from the provinces of Entre Ríos, Misiones and Santa Fe joined in. Sofia Alert is a national emergency alert program for cases of missing children or adolescents who may be in serious danger. Loan was last seen in the Algarrobal area, he is almost a meter tall, weighs 26 kilos, has a dark brunette, dark brown hair and brown eyes.
