The presentation of the Conversation was held: “From anthropological research to collaborative contemporary work”, which had as its framework the facilities of the Municipal Culture Center, in which Greta Alvarado, Arturo Gutiérrez del Ángel of the Colegio de San Luis and Guadalupe López took part. Wongñis, renowned visual artist from Potosí.

This talk shows an interesting social research work of the first Chinese families in San Luis Potosí, combined with a collaborative work process; having a very special setting as it is one of the most emblematic buildings of the capital of Potosí

Guadalupe LópezWongñis, who has ancestors of Chinese origin, highlighted that the research is based on the first 19 Chinese families that arrived in San Luis Potosí, and that through the anthropological research of Colsan researchers Greta Alvarado and Arturo Gutiérrez, they allowed a process of collaborative work, trying to recover the essence and memory.

The artist highlights that the program is based on the “Rooting” program, which translates into memories that stimulate memory to revive the past that we have forgotten and at the same time store the experiences that accompany us on a daily basis along with knowledge; giving body to the record for the dialogue of history.

Rooting appropriates memories and memories, imagination leads to the constant trace of an individual experience where it turns to form a community; where eight Chinese descendants capture this record in a fluid way in tribute to their ancestors.

Nineteen circles, nineteen Chinese families within the research “Lotos in the desert, families of Chinese origin in San Luis Potosí.”

Participating in the play were: Carolina Maldonado Chiwo, Dalia Wong Castañeda, Georgina Bustos Wong, Georgina Wong González, León Lam, María del Carmen Ampacun Robledo, Martín Lee, all of them directed by Guadalupe Lopezwongñis.
