Murder of Luis Eduardo Vivas, traditional doctor, shocks the indigenous community of Mosoco, Cauca

The renowned traditional doctor and spiritual expert, Luis Eduardo Vivas, was found dead in his residence in the Moras village, within the Mosoco indigenous reservation in the municipality of Páez, Cauca. Indigenous authorities have reported that Vivas suffered two gunshot wounds, in what has been described as a homicide.

Luis Eduardo Vivas was a deeply respected and valued figure in his community for his work as a spiritual and medical authority. His murder has caused enormous shock and sadness among those close to him and the community in general.

«He was a person who acted as an authority, a fact that we really strongly reject. We deeply regret this loss and extend our voice of encouragement to the family and the community,” said Rodrigo Perdomo Tenorio, Senior Advisor of the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca (CRIC).

The indigenous and local authorities have initiated the relevant investigations to clarify the facts and find those responsible for this regrettable crime. Meanwhile, the indigenous community of Mosoco continues to mourn the loss of one of its most illustrious members.
