Senator Kueider responds to criticism

The national senator Edgardo Kuider (Entre Ríos) defended himself today against the criticism of the former presidents Cristina Kirchner and Alberto Fernandez for having voted in favor – in general – of the Bases Law in the upper house. He also replied to his peer Juliana Di Tulliowhich asked the Justicialist Party to expel him from its ranks.

The slogan was for everything to explode; It was to reject everything because the markets were going to skyrocket the next day, there was going to be a currency run, the country was going to fall into disbelief. We were going to enter a worse crisis, and we can save ourselves from that crisis, but society cannot,” the legislator said in radio statements.

In turn, he assured: “I didn’t betray anyone”. “I voted against the RIGI and some senators from Unión por la Patria voted in favor, and it was done sneakily,” he added to Radio Splendidand completed: “We cannot permanently boycott. If we do not govern, preferring that everything be set on fire to govern again… With that logic, which must be changed, Peronism has reached this point of resounding crisis. Today I don’t know who leads Peronism.”

Kuider, and the Corrientes Carlos “Camau” Espínola, were the target in recent days of harsh criticism from sectors of Kirchnerism, questions that were joined by former president Cristina Kirchner, who reposted a message on X in which she recalled that both leaders were elected at the head of the Frente de Todos ticket. Alberto Fernández also raised questions about him and said that “both betrayed their voters by supporting the so-called Bases Law”.

The senator from Entre Ríos, consulted about these criticisms, stated: “Alberto’s demonstrations make me sad; If there is someone who has betrayed it is Alberto. They have destroyed Peronism with the shooting with Cristina. “He had the opportunity to build a new Peronism and he did not have enough courage to do so.”

Senator Edgardo Kuider and deputy and former governor Gustavo Bordet

In recent weeks, Kueider carried out three actions that allowed the treatment of the libertarian initiative in Congress: signed the opinion majority, although in disagreement; quorum was given in the session and voted yes overall, but he rejected several items during the particular treatment.

As a result of these actions, Di Tullio requested his expulsion – along with that of Daniel Scioli and Espínola – from the PJ Nacional. In turn, Facundo Ruiz Díaz, the president of the Concordia Department where Kueider is from, made a formal presentation before the Provincial Council of the PJ, also requesting his expulsion.

The proposal of the Departmental Concordia has to be analyzed by the party’s Disciplinary Court. José Cáceres, president of the Council, told local media that the body that must evaluate Kueider’s attitude must be formed on an ad hoc basis until the party Congress is convened.

Then, he called on all members who consider that the national Senator should not continue in the ranks of Justicialism to formally promote his removal. The last expelled from the PJ Entre Ríos was one of its heroes: the three-time governor Jorge Busti. It was for having joined forces with the PRO in the 2013 legislative elections. The sanction was lifted by Congress some time later.

In response to the query of Infobae Regarding his possible expulsion from the PJ, Kueider announced that his response will be saved “for when the party makes a formal accusation.” “I have to write a book and I am going to do it,” he warned, “but I am not going to anticipate anything.”, he added. The national legislator was elected in 2019 on the ticket of Alberto Fernández and Cristina Kirchner. Peronism lost that national election. And the second senator who was at stake resigned. Between 2022 and 2023, Kueider moved away from the ruling bloc due to disagreements with the Government and the bloc’s authorities.
