Department authorities presented a report on the weather situations that have affected several municipalities between June 15 and 17, 2024. Landslides, a fire and other adverse events have generated concern and attention from emergency agencies.

In the Municipality of Teruel, the unfortunate incident involved the disappearance of Javier Medina Cerquera, who was allegedly swept away by the La María River while crossing a pedestrian bridge in a state of dismay. Local authorities continue with search efforts in the Pedernal River sector, coordinated by the Teruel and Yaguará Volunteer Fire Department.

In Santa Maria, several landslides in the El Socorro, San Miguel and Belgium villages significantly affected the roads that connect with Palermo, although the yellow municipal machinery has managed to partially restore access at some points.

Meanwhile, in Garzón, a landslide in the Vereda Bajo Monserrate temporarily obstructed a tertiary road towards San Antonio del Pescador, being quickly cleared by the yellow municipal machinery.

In Neiva, a structural fire at the Trujillo Hardware Store in the Industrial Zone caused significant material damagealthough the quick action of the Official Fire Department made it possible to extinguish the fire and avoid further losses.

Saladoblanco and La Plata reported alert situations with a sudden flood in the Magdalena River and a landslide on the Páez River, respectively, being continuously monitored by local fire departments.

On the other hand, in Campoalegre, a traffic accident on the road to Neiva left six people injuredwho were transferred to the El Rosario Hospital in the municipality to receive medical attention.

Additionally, municipalities such as Algeciras and Gigante are still recovering from previous landslides, with efforts underway to restore roads and provide support to affected families.
