The First Instance Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice has sentenced the former governor of Huila, Cielo González, to six years and seven months in prison for irregularities related to the concession contract for the exploitation of double anise liquor.

“By majority decision, the former governor of Huila Cielo González was sentenced to six years and seven months in prison for the crimes of undue interest in the execution of contracts, ideological falsification in a public document and embezzlement by appropriation,” indicated the High Court.

In the same decision, the Supreme Court of Justice denied the conditional suspension of the execution of the sentence and house arrest, for which the National Penitentiary and Prison Institute (Inpec) has been requested to transfer the former official González to a prison center .

This process is related to irregularities in the concession contract for the exploitation of double anise liquor, which supposedly benefited the Fábrica de Licores de Antioquia (FLA) without legal basis.

The former governor of Huila, Cielo González Villa, must pay a fine equivalent to 218 legal minimum wages, close to $370 million.
