A group of merchants from San Juan is in talks to organize a mega outlet in which about 10 businesses for each department would participate, and in which they will seek to boost sales through earlier sales of clothing due to the change of season. The Government is already aware, and it only remains to define the date and place.

The news was confirmed to HUARPE DIARY by the president of the Chamber of Agroindustrial Commerce and Tourism of Rawson, Gastón Villordo, who assured that these initiatives carried out in that department have attracted the attention of merchants from all over the province, who have requested to participate in these outlets.

In this sense, he confirmed that they are talking with authorities from the Ministry of Production to create an outlet at the provincial level. “We want to invite about 10 merchants per department and bring them all together in one place. We believe that this can generate a good level of sales that allows us to renew stock for those of us who are in this hard-hit sector,” he stated.

Likewise, he emphasized that the idea is to carry it out at a neutral point where all the departments can converge, and he slipped that it could be in Capital, Santa Lucía, Rivadavia or even Rawson. In addition, he announced that the next outlet that they will hold in the southern department of Greater San Juan has already been defined, which will take place from July 12 to 14 at the La Superiora Complex.

In turn, he explained that the intention is to advance settlements due to the change of season. “Normally, they are made starting in August, but given the current economic conditions, we are thinking of launching them in July. The merchant has to sell to be able to face the new season that is coming and start stocking,” he asserted.

On the other hand, the merchant highlighted the results produced by each outlet held in Rawson, and emphasized that each event manages to surpass itself in terms of attendance, stating that more than 70,000 San Juan residents have already participated in this initiative.

Father’s Day sales: the average ticket was $35,000

According to Villordo, the assessment made by the Chamber regarding sales for Father’s Day was not positive. “The survey we did since the beginning of the month and even last Sunday tells us that the average ticket was around $35,000, much less than we expected,” he stated.

The data is negative, since the sector expected that the average sale for this event would be around $50,000 or $60,000. The trade analyzes this figure as “a significant drop,” even though they expected this date to not be comparable to the results that normally occur on Mother’s Day.

At the same time, they highlighted a particularity about the sales that sought to entertain parents; The butcher shops benefited the most. “To prepare our statistical report, we consulted with all branches of the industry, including gastronomic and food vendors. We were surprised to see that people spent more on barbecue than on clothing, footwear or electronics. The average ticket handled by the butcher shops was $45,000.”

Regarding this data, the president of the Chamber recognized that this area was a great competition for commerce, and he regretted that the level of sales was so low. “Historically, we take advantage of Father’s Day to raise money to face the new season. Something that now seems difficult to face,” he said.
