The governor of Santa Cruz, Claudio Vidal, traveled to the Federal Capital with a list of orders due to the climate emergency that affects Patagonia, as a consequence of the extreme wave of cold and snow in his province.

After the rejection of the Bases Law in the Senate by the senators in his political space, Vidal will meet with several ministers of the national cabinet to request supplies for hospitals, food and humanitarian aid for Social Development, among other areas.

Specific Orders:

  1. Route Clearance: Vidal will ask for support for work on the routes, in order to clear snow and ice, guaranteeing safety and passability.

  2. Attention to the Field and Livestock Production: He requested food and soft loans for producers, with the aim of protecting the lives of animals in breeding, which are being strongly affected by snow, water and cold storms.

  3. Articulation with National Entities: It seeks a greater presence and coordination of the National Administration with different entities, such as Provincial Roads. In addition, it will carry the purchase order for specific machinery for route maintenance and the signing of the agreement that restores the contributions of national funds for these tasks.

  4. District Assistance: It will request the release of the trust for the Pico Truncado – Los Antiguos gas pipeline, tank trucks for the transportation of LPG to reduce dependence on private companies and the release of payments corresponding to Zona Fría.

Additional Topics:

Vidal, who had already been in the Casa Rosada before the treatment of the project in the Senate, insisted on three fundamental issues for its management:

  1. YPF transfer: He asks that the company be managed by the province again.
  2. Dam Reactivation: Seeks the reactivation of hydroelectric projects in the province.
  3. Non-Privatization of YCRT: He opposes the privatization of the Río Turbio Carboniferous Deposits, seeking to keep it under state management.
