They launch the Plaza Recovery Program that will involve 22 green spaces selected from a survey by the Municipality. The objective is that, with a joint and simultaneous intervention of several municipal areas, these squares are valued quickly and comprehensively.
Guillermo Ferrero, Secretary of Urban Environmental Management, highlighted that “our intention is to organize and prioritize the spaces that we can enjoy as a family.” And he added that reconditioning and maintenance work has already been carried out in the Malvinas Argentinas, España and Predio Ferial plazas, but clarified that they are not part of the list of selected spaces, but were prior to the program.
The 22 places to intervene are: San Martín, Italy, 2 de Abril, Pueyrredón, Constituciónntes, 9 de Julio, Las Matorras, Vanossi, Pucará, Escalante, Fournier, Rebecq, Conti, Nueva Santa Fe, Los Cipreses, Plazoleta 3 de Junio , Plaza Alfonsín, Martín Fierro, Hernandarias, Rosedal, René Tibaldo and Verna.
“The interventions require the deployment of the entire structure and operational capacity of the municipality, while times are reduced, since the work plans prepared by the areas intensify the tasks to be executed in limited periods,” said Ferrero. Furthermore, he indicated that “work planning clearly establishes tasks and times that give predictability and synchrony to the teams.”
Although the schedule has already started at a good pace for several of the squares, the official clarified that work will continue in those where there are neighborhood operations or in those that arrive due to requests or complaints from neighbors through the Citizen Assistance System (SAC).

Tasks to perform
The Secretary of Urban Management detailed the actions that municipal workers will carry out in a coordinated manner between the different agencies. The Construction Department will repair and replace urban furniture, both recreational (hammocks, see-saws, slides, trapezes, climbers) and sports (those from the Cruci Gym line or the calisthenics stations).
It will also deal with the restoration and provision of benches, mainly the so-called “camel” (curved backrest with wooden slats) that are produced in-house in municipal workshops; as well as the repair of baskets, masts, and painting and replacement of plaster and masonry tasks.

“Drinkers and faucets are one of the issues that needs a lot of intervention and is being specifically addressed with specific tasks. The theft of elements, the wear and tear of the structures and the deterioration of the environment that they produce today, require very particular solutions,” remarked Ferrero. .
Likewise, the tasks will include the sidewalks, mainly the repair of panels damaged by use or by the action of roots that lift the concrete. As for the beaches, the joints, general cleaning, and demarcation with paint will be checked. “Hoops and bows are manufactured in our workshops, a good part is restored and repaired, but also when there is material, it is produced which speeds up replacements,” he said.

Accessibility, lighting and trees
Regarding the Mobility Works Directorate, this area will be in charge of painting for cordon demarcation, perimeter signage, accessibility ramps, bicycle racks, bike racks, bus checkpoints, bicycle points, bus signs, special parking bays (disability) , general survey of school environments, donkey backs or speed bumps.
The departments of: Public Lighting and Electromechanics also participate in the repair, replacement or installation of columns and luminaires, reflectors or panels; Road Maintenance, for the replacement of curbs; as well as the Directorate of Trees, for pruning or extractions and afforestation. Meanwhile, the Landscaping department will be dedicated to weeding, trimming tasks, raking and general cleaning, incorporation or restoration of flower beds, washing of dry floors; and the Environmental Hygiene Directorate will carry out the planned collection and collection of micro-garbage from the squares.
