The Bambuco Festival and Reign, which attracts national and international tourists, celebrates Huilense folklore with music, dances, troupes and native cuisinefusing rural and urban traditions in honor of Saint John and Saint Peter.
The 63rd edition of the FBambuco summer festival in San Juan and San Pedro will be from June 14 to July 1 at the Jorge Villamil Cordovez Music Park with a ‘Gala of History and Tradition’, an artistic and cultural show called ‘Symbols of Huilensidad’.
Sara Milena Rivas Flórez, a 20-year-old Industrial Engineering student and representative of the mayor’s office of the municipality of Gigante, joins the participants of the Reinado del Bambuco 2024, sharing her motivation to compete for the crown.
“Winning the Reign of Bambuco not only means wearing the crown, but also becoming the ambassador of the rich folkloric and cultural heritage of Huila, known as ‘Opita,'” said Rivas.
This indigenous and representative event exalts feminine beauty and cultural talent, highlighting the majestic Sanjuanero Huilense of each candidate, which highlights the traditions of the participating municipalities.
“The passion and love for our culture and traditions“, is an invitation to everyone to visit Huila and discover the richness of its municipalities, especially Gigante, the cocoa, coffee and agrotourism capital, where you can enjoy majestic landscapes and unmatched human warmth,” the participant adds.
On June 30, the closing of the Folkloric Festival and Reinado del Bambuco in Neiva will begin, with an outstanding list of artists who have not yet has been revealed in full, but promises to attract residents and visitors alike.
The department of Huila will celebrate its patron saint festivities with a variety of events that include reigns, troupes, parades, dances, parades, and different artistic, commercial and cultural exhibitions.
This festival is a reflection of the rich cultural and folkloric heritage of the region, consolidating itself as an important tourist and cultural attraction.
