The Cuban delegation that will attend the Paris 2024 Olympic Games added two new members with the addition of an archer and a diver, after which there are now 45 tickets obtained so far.

The archer Hugo Franco and the diver Prisis Leydis Ruiz secured places in the island’s delegation for the Olympic Games, to be held in the French capital.

According to Jit, Hugo won his “ticket to the 2024 Final Olympic Archery Qualification Tournament, held in the Turkish city of Antalya as the last opportunity to get individual and team tickets.”

“The man from Pinar del Río took over the place since his advance to the semifinal round of the recurve bow modality, achieved with the 7-3 victory over the Iranian Faez Mohammadizardkhaneh,” they detail.

In this way, he is the eighth Cuban in the arc to win the right to attend the Olympic Games, since Juan Carlos Stevens, Ismely Arias, Yaremis Pérez and Edisbel Martínez did so for the first time in Sydney 2000.

In the case of Prisis Leydis Ruiz, she won her place after it was made official by World Aquatics for the individual springboard test from three meters.

“The officialization was received through the Cuban Olympic Committee and we are waiting for something similar to happen with Anisley García, when the process closes on the platform,” said Milagros González, national sports commissioner.

With them, the Cuban delegation to the Olympic Games now has 45 members, waiting to define other possible places.
