The economic crisis, the Father’s Day celebration and the rain forecasts did not help more tourists visit the province this long weekend.

The first long weekend of the two that this month has passed and nationwide around 802,000 people traveled. The amount was much lower than last year: 64.3 percent less.

It happens that on that occasion the long weekend had four days and did not coincide with the fact that in two days another long holiday would arrive, as will happen between next Thursday the 20th and Sunday the 23rd, according to what was analyzed by the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (Came). .

In its report, the organization noted that there was a lot of local tourism in the three days, which included yesterday’s holiday, commemorating the passage to immortality of General Martín Miguel de Güemes. In this context, 81,464 million pesos were spent on food, drinks, accommodation, transportation, recreation and various purchases. With Father’s Day as the main attraction, there was primarily movement towards nearby places and visits that were more family-oriented than vacation-related.

For the Entre Ríos tourism sector it was not a good weekend. He played against the weather forecast, which predicted possible storms. Hotel accommodation reached 40 percent, with the best numbers in Santa Ana (80 percent), María Grande (70 percent), Basabilbaso (70 percent), Villaguay (50 percent), and Concepción del Uruguay (50 percent). percent), driven in the latter by the TC Pista at the local racetrack. And in the case of the thermal complexes, which generally remain full this season, they worked with occupancy levels of between 50 percent and 60 percent.

The economic crisis, the Father’s Day celebration and the rain forecasts did not help the province, which in any case maintains good expectations for the next extra-long weekend.

Variables that impact the movement of tourism

La Came observed that this long weekend that the weather passed was uneven, with very good temperatures in places such as the Atlantic Coast or the NOA region, and threats of rain and storms in others such as Entre Ríos or Corrientes that made people hesitate to travel or No.

So far this year there have been three long weekends, in which 6.6 million people mobilized and disbursed 1,065,990 million pesos (1,169 million in official BNA dollars).

A factor that reduced the dynamism of the weekend’s movement was the drop in international tourism, which, although still latent, is not seen in the magnitudes of previous months.
