The Municipality of Santa Fe compacted 241 abandoned vehicles that were in the corralón

This Tuesday, the Municipality of Santa Fe carried out the compaction of 241 vehicles that remained in the Detained Vehicle Depot (DVR) from 2016 to December 2023.

The vehicles in question were detained during operations by the Municipality’s Traffic Directorate and in removal procedures due to abandonment on public roads. In addition, the Provincial Police also sent vehicles to the municipal corralón, which was already almost at full capacity.

The vehicles, which were never claimed by their ownerswere dismantled and compacted in compliance with Resolution No. 28 of May 17, 2024, Law No. 11,856 and Ordinance No. 11,216.

ANDThe decontamination and scrapping process began in May due to negative environmental impacts that abandoned vehicles caused over time, including the leakage of lubricants and fuels that contaminated the soil and the atmosphere.

With the aim of starting a decontamination process, municipal personnel worked to dismantle 232 motorcycles and 9 cars that were in the DVR. Then, A company from Rosario that is dedicated to the commercialization of scrap metal carried out the compaction at zero cost to the Municipality.

This initiative not only freed up space on the DVR, but also aligned with municipal efforts to reduce environmental impact.
