The Government of Santa Cruz confirmed that the yellow alert persists in the department, with four active forest fires.

Einar Bascopé, coordinator of the Government’s Forest Firefighters, indicated that, through the Forest Fire Early Warning System (Satif), four active forest fires were registered: two in the municipality of San Matías, one in Puerto Quijarro and one in Puerto Suárez.

Regarding the fires in San Matías, he noted that the first was recorded near of the Nativity community, where the Direna forest firefighters, together with Sernap personnel and local community members, are already carrying out control tasks to protect and prevent it from reaching the Navidad and Tornito communities.

On the other hand, a second fire is recorded in that municipality, close to the Totora community, which advances superficially and underground, which is under observation and monitoring correspondent.

Regarding the fire in the National Park and ANMI Otuquis, in the municipality of Puerto Quijarro, Block Pimiento area, The forest fire is still active and under observation.

Bascopé reported that the fire registered in Puerto Suárez – Puerto Busch areais currently liquidated and is being monitored, in case of a possible reactivation of some burning source.

The liquidation of the fire occurred thanks to the work carried out by the decentralized firefighters of the Direna, who worked jointly with the COED personnel, in coordination with Sernap park rangers and municipal firefighters in the area.
