The Santa Cruz Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation official against the dean of the Faculty of Humanities of the Gabriel René Moreno Autonomous University (Uagrm), Alejandro Valverde, who was restricted from his powers and suspended for four months in an internal process.

Róger Mariaca, departmental prosecutor, stated that the Anti-Corruption Unit of the Public Ministry began an investigation against the dean for the alleged crime of concussion and, in that sense, The case was referred to a prosecutor and also to a police officer.

“There are different acts of corruption reported by people, such as the FUL, representatives of Uagrm itself,” said Mariaca in contact with the media.

Valverde was accused by students and workers of the Uagrm after a series of audios were released in which, supposedly, the accused is heard blackmailing and belittling the female staff of that house of higher education.

As a result of this, the Uagrm suspended its activities for six days after learning of the resolution of the University Court of Justice that restricted Dean Velarde’s powers to manage resources and hire personnel. Added to this was the fact that the dean was suspended for four months without pay in a process followed by a teacher.
