What happened?
Sebastian Parraguez Gonzalezformer constitutional advisor of the Republican Party, is being investigated for the eventual sexual abuse of minors that he would have committed against at least three students from a high school High Hospicein the Tarapacá region.
The investigation is in the hands of the Sexual Crimes Investigative Brigade (Brisex) of the Investigative Police (PDI), following instructions from the Public Ministry. The abuses would have been perpetrated at interior of the establishmentwhere the accused works as a teacher.

In the last few hours, various records viralized on social networks show how Parraguez leaves the school in question, while some students shout insults at him and throw stones at him. The former counselor, who is a kinesiologist, is 37 years old.
What did the Prosecutor’s Office say about the investigation against Sebastián Parraguez?
The prosecutor of Alto Hospicio, Christopher Plateroconfirmed that this Tuesday, June 18 “Complaints were received both in the Prosecutor’s Office and in the PDI of alleged sexual abuse against adolescents, which occurred inside a school in the commune of Alto Hospicio”.
“These would have been perpetrated by a professional, a kinesiologist by profession, a teacher at a school in Alto Hospicio, and until now we have three victims who have been identified“, he added, detailing that “taking knowledge of this, the PDI, the Brisex, were asked to begin doing the first proceedings“.

The pursuer indicated that “among them is the search for these victims, statements from parents, also teachersand any witness who could provide pertinent information to clarify the facts, and also, by the way, the search for the accused“.
What did the PDI say about the alleged sexual abuse?
From the PDI, meanwhile, the subprefect Fermín Escobarhead of the Brisex of Iquique, specified that these are complaints “for the crime of sexual abuse of persons over 14 years of age“.

Republican Party suspended the militancy of Sebastián Parraguez
Regarding the case, the Republican Party issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon stating that “we have become aware of a complaint against the militant Sebastián Parraguez.” However, they assured that it is “a supposed harassment committed in the city of Alto Hospicio”.
“In the face of these facts, he denies what is accused of him and announced that he will exercise his defense to prove it. As a Party we have made the decision to suspend his militancy so that he can exercise his defense and we will wait for what justice resolves,” they added.
Likewise, they concluded that “in the Republican Party we consider that the events reported are very serious and a fast and effective investigation to determine its veracity and the accusations that are made”.
