They revitalize spaces for passenger transportation in Las Tunas

Las Tunas.- The construction and restoration of more than 60 bus stops in this city is part of the actions to revitalize the public passenger transportation service, in a process that will last throughout the month of June.

With emphasis on Carlos J. Finlay Avenue, where important educational and health centers are located such as the Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital and the Zoilo Marinello University of Medical Sciences, the transformations involve the Provincial Passenger Transport Company and General Cargo Cardinal Las Tunas and other state entities in the territory.

Luis Enrique Arias Peña, director of Cardinal Las Tunas, said that the construction of two new stations in front of Medical Sciences is planned due to the poor aesthetic and functional condition of the existing ones; Although, he clarified that these tasks can be extended until the end of 2024, depending on the availability of resources.

For the summer months, the state company also focuses its forecasts on ensuring urban buses on traditional routes, beyond the 12 that will be destined for the beaches in the municipality of Puerto Padre.

The political and government authorities urged to maintain the service and make it even more dynamic starting in July, for the transportation of passengers to the different recreation points within the main municipality, which will also have the support of the urban train from the community. from La Piedra to the El Cornito farm.

We have the priority of materializing the recovery project of the intermunicipal terminal with a capital investment of over 10 million pesos that will involve not only the external loading area, but also public bathrooms, administrative areas and the installation of technological equipment, Arias Peña assured.

The maintenance work is also carried out as part of the Transport Worker’s Day, which is celebrated in Cuba every June 28.

Passenger transportation is one of the most vulnerable services in the face of the economic and energy situation that Las Tunas is going through, as well as the fuel deficit and the lack of equipment and spare parts for its optimal functioning have a significant effect on a population of more than 160 thousand inhabitants.
