Inquiries

Subprefect Claudio Reyes, after attending the death of the young man at the Sports Center, expressed that when specialized personnel went to the scene and carried out the investigations, it was not possible to determine if there was action by third parties in the cause of death.

“The person would have died, preliminarily, from asphyxiation due to submersion, which must be corroborated by the city’s Legal Medical Service,” said Subprefect Reyes.

In turn, prosecutor Álex Olivero indicated that the young man was accompanied by a 16-year-old minor in the facility and that, when he discovered that Pacheco Barra was at the bottom of the pool, he had the help of another person. who was also on the premises. This person was a nurse who attempted to provide first aid to the young man, efforts that were unsuccessful.

“According to Carabineros, both young men were in the machine area doing exercises and then they went to the pool to swim. The youngest went to see him and saw that he was in the background without movement, first he thought that he was playing, he picked him up and realized that was not the case, ”the prosecutor indicated.

“There was a person from SAMU in his free time at the pool and he came to get him out of the water and give him first aid, but unfortunately he was already deceased,” Olivero said.

The prosecutor said that, according to information provided by the family, the young man did not have any type of illness.
