Court denies guardianship to former president of the Magdalena Educators Union

The decision of Judge Edilberto Mendoza leaves firm the resolution issued by the District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, which temporarily suspends the former president of Edumag, María Del Carmen Ceballos Redondo, from office.

The Sixth Court of Small Causes and Multiple Competences of Santa Marta has denied the protection presented by María del Carmen Ceballos Redondo, former president of the Magdalena Educators Union, against the District Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta.

The former president of Edumag, Ceballos Redondo, had requested protection of her fundamental rights to due process and the vital minimum.

Judge Edilberto Mendoza Negrinis declared the protection inadmissible, considering that none of the rights invoked by the plaintiff were violated.

The case is related to the decision made on May 17 by the Office of Disciplinary Affairs of the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta, which suspended Ceballos Redondo from his teaching position, allegedly for presenting documentation of false degrees.

As a result, the resolution issued by the Santa Marta District Mayor’s Office last May, which temporarily suspended Carmen Ceballos Redondo without salary compensation, remains firm until the case is resolved.
