The education statute law needed a final debate and conciliation to be approved in the Legislature, but its process became complicated in recent days after the agreements between the government of President Gustavo Petro and the opposition were broken.

This Wednesday, June 19, the agenda was led by the opposition, in compliance with the right given to them by the Opposition Statuteso the last hope that the ruling party had to carry out its project was that it be scheduled for this Thursday, the last day of Congress.

After the construction of the amendment between both parties, which allowed the project to be approved in the First Committee of the Senate; With the subsequent breaking of those agreements, different proposals were presented.

From the Government itself, voices like that of the Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velascoand the senator María José Pizarro, They indicated that there was little room for the statutory law to be approved before the legislative recess. A new project is not ruled out for after July 20, when the third legislature is installed.

Thus, the only alternative is to request a change in the agenda and accept the text that came from the House of Representatives, avoiding conciliation.
