There are five protected natural areas open to tourism this long weekend: Telteca, Divisadero Largo, Manzano Historico, Payunia and Caverna de Las Brujas. How to get there, how to obtain permits and who can access it for free.

Telteca in Lavalle, Divisadero Largo in Ciudad, Manzano Histérico in Tunuyán, Payunia and Cavern de Las Brujas in Malargüe remain open and in perfect access conditions for this weekend, which coincides with the beginning of winter. This was reported by the Ministry of Energy and Environment, through the Directorate of Protected Natural Areas.

In addition to being a tourism low cost For all audiences, it is added that entry is free for children under 12 years of age, people with disabilities, retirees and former Malvinas combatants.

Telteca Forests Natural Reserve, Lavalle

With interpretive trails of desert flora and fauna, the natural area is representative of the Monte Biogeographic Ecoregion, which preserves a relic of centuries-old carob trees and other desert plant and animal species. The site has historically been the habitat of the descendants of the Huarpe aborigines. These trails are self-guided and last 30 to 150 minutes. The site has services for visitors such as public bathrooms, a picnic area and parking.

Location: From Mendoza Capital it is 115 km and you can get there via RP 34 and RN 142 (all paved) to the park ranger section. There is no public passenger transport service to the place.

Recommendations: bring water for consumption (the water in the facilities is not drinkable), wear clothing appropriate for the environment and the time (long pants, T-shirt and jacket, sweatshirt, hat or cap, and closed sports shoes).

Divisadero Largo Natural Reserve, 8 km from the city center

It preserves geological formations and outcrops and the fossiliferous reserve formed over a period of more than 200 million years, which due to its values ​​is of great importance for research and education.

Location: Provincial Route No. 99, 8 km from the micro-center of the City of Mendoza (Papagayos Circuit). There is no public passenger transport to the place.

Activities:

Divisadero Largo is a protected area very close to the city of Mendoza that offers visitors a wide range of hiking alternatives. From a walk accessible to the whole family – in the manner of an environmental walk – to a circuit of trekking long with a certain degree of difficulty.
Along the trails arranged for the public, we can see different rocky outcrops that lead us to discover the mysteries of the depths of the Earth, as well as discover and enjoy the typical landscape of the Mendoza foothills.
This reserve also serves as an “environmental classroom” for the hundreds of school visitors who come to it daily to learn about its attractions, but also as an introduction to knowledge of the Network of Protected Areas of Mendoza and their respective environments.

Environmental Walk: 30 minutes.

Short Circuit: 1 to 2 hours.

Medium Circuit: 2 to 3 hours.

Long Circuit: 3 to 5 hours.

This tourist event is a short trekking (3 km), along a series of interpretation trails of the Reserve, where you can observe all the landscape and geological richness in a journey of 200 million years. Historic Manzano Natural Reserve, Tunuyán

Location: 120 km from the city of Mendoza in the Los Arboles district, Los Chacayes, Campo Los Andes de Tunuyán. There is public transportation from Tunuyán on weekends.

Activities: There are proposals of great historical value such as the visit to the Monument of the Return of General San Martín, the Retoño del Manzano Histérico and the Sanmartiniana exhibition. The Archaeological Museum has key pieces to understand the origin of the first inhabitants of the place, their customs and practices typical of their culture.

La Payunia in Malargüe

It is one of the most dense and diverse volcanic parks on the planet. For this reason and its scenic beauty, a large part of the reserve is part of a site proposed as a candidate for World Natural Heritage by UNESCO.

Volcanoes tourist circuit: located in the Río Grande, Agua Escondida and Río Barrancas districts, 90 km from the city of Malargüe and about 570 km from the city of Mendoza.

The Los Volcanes circuit is enabled for all vehicles and with a duration of 4 hours, the route consists of six stops passing through Pampas Negras. Entry with a qualified guide is necessary to complete the complete route, otherwise you will only be able to take a partial route on RPNº183.

Here you will have access to public bathrooms, they can be used before starting the tour, and also when it ends. There are no bathrooms during the journey.

Las Brujas Cave Natural Reserve, Malargüe

It is a particular underground environment with rocks of marine origin that house strange mineral forms. Among them: stalactites, stalagmites, columns, lava flows that come from the Jurassic period.

Las Brujas Cave is 8 km to the North of Route No. 40 in the town of Bardas Blancas, 65 km South of the city of Malargüe.

With a duration of one and a half hours, the complete tour of the cavity, up to the giant stalagmite room, is carried out in groups of 10 people per shift and with a mandatory authorized tour guide service, which the visitor must hire on their own, since The entrance ticket does not include this service.

There is also a circuit along external trails (enabled) of medium difficulty due to uneven floors and differences in height, which require some physical effort and entry into the room of the giant stalagmite. Children under 7 years of age are not allowed to enter.
