As contemplated in the District Development Plan ‘Santa Marta 500 Más’, the commitment to take educational quality to another level is part of the will and commitment of this administration.
In an unprecedented event, under the leadership of Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello, students from more than 70 educational institutions in Santa Marta, both urban and rural, now have more academic tools. In the first six months of government, the District Education Secretariat, directed by Dr. Sandra Patricia Muñoz Dorado, has reduced the average number of students per computer from 10 to 7, meeting the goals of the District Development Plan ‘Santa Marta 500 Más ‘, which seeks to significantly improve the city’s educational results.
Delivery of 3,260 computers
More than 94,000 students have benefited from the recent delivery of 3,260 computers, thanks to an investment of more than 16,000 million pesos. This investment includes carrying out preparatory and evaluative simulations for the State exams, as well as teaching material that is of great help to students, especially those in grades 10 and 11.
“This is our commitment to the students of Santa Marta. Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello’s priority is to improve educational conditions and quality, one of the fundamental pillars to generate true transformations in society. That is why we work tirelessly and today, in almost a record time of less than six months, we can say that we are closing gaps. This effort will be reflected in the results of the Saber Tests in the coming years,” declared the Secretary of District Education, Sandra Patricia Muñoz Dorado.
For his part, the legal advisor of the Secretariat, Adaúlfo Manjarrés Mejía, said: “This progress in such a short time represents a great contribution to education in Santa Marta. Mayor Carlos Pinedo Cuello’s guidelines are focused on substantially improving the results of the Saber Tests, and we are sure that, by providing all the necessary technological and curricular tools to teachers and students, we will achieve it.”
