A packed programme of national and international events for the whole family, with popular music, theatre, magic, folklore and ballet, will be offered this July at the Teatro Municipal de Viña del Mar.

“After almost 14 years closed and 6 months after recovering it, the Municipal Theater is a great panorama for these winter holidays. We want all people, neighbors and those who come to visit us, to be able to enjoy this beautiful venue with a rich program with unprecedented shows such as illusionism, dance, humor and the return of the Theater Festival. At the start, on Wednesday, July 3 at 7:00 p.m., the national magician/illusionist, Jean Paul Olhaberry, will perform. He is beginning his national tour in Viña del Mar. The artist, winner of the international Merlin Award, who dazzled on the closing night of the Viña del Mar Song Festival, will offer a show of escapes and various tricks (tickets on sale at ticketpro.cl and altoparlante.cl).

Meanwhile, on Thursday, July 4 at 7:00 p.m., the National Cuequero Day will be celebrated, a day established in 2018 for the festivity that recognizes men and women who cultivate dance, music and poetry associated with cueca. The Folkloric group of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso will present the show “Retazos, memorias de un puerto obrero”, which recreates the anniversary party of the seamstresses union “La agujas de Valparaíso” (free admission upon registration).

On Saturday 6th, at 7:00 pm, the Kuroshio Ballet (Black Current) by the Chilean National Ballet (BANCH) of the Center for Artistic Extension and Culture of the University of Chile will present choreographies by Claudia Vicuña (Chile) and Mathieu Guilhaumon (France), with music by Graciela Vicuña. Artistic Variety

Humor will also be present on Wednesday, July 10 and Thursday, July 11 at 8:30 p.m. with comedian Felipe Avello (ticket sales at www.ticketpro.cl).

A national classic of all time is Eduardo Gatti, who will perform on Saturday, July 13, at 7:00 p.m., with a Gala concert to celebrate 57 years of singing and music. The singer-songwriter will be accompanied by a large orchestra of 30 musicians and a staging that covers his musical life (tickets at www.passline.com)

International Quality

One of the shows that returns to the Theater is the musical magic of Candlelight for Friday, July 12 with two presentations: at 7:00 p.m. with a tribute to Taylor Swift and at 9:30 p.m. with a tribute to Coldplay (tickets at www. feverup.com).

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, July 16 at 8:00 p.m., singer Pía Toscano, who stole the hearts of Chileans during her performance with Andrea Bocelli at the Viña del Mar Festival, comes to our country to offer a first-class show with an orchestra, a live band, and guest artists Andrés de León and Nico Ruiz (tickets at www.goldenpass.cl).

Festivals

The Viña del Mar Theatre Festival will take place from July 19 to 27 with 4 plays by prominent Chilean and foreign companies (free tickets with prior registration).

-Friday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m. and Saturday the 20th, at 7:00 p.m., the show “The Carnival of the Animals” is presented.

-Sunday, July 21, at 7:00 p.m., “The memory of the sessile”

-Thursday, July 25, at 7:00 p.m., “The Children of the Riverbed”

-Saturday 27, at 7:00 p.m., “Mocha dick”

The July programme ends on Tuesday 30th with the Gabriel Parra Percussion Festival, to celebrate the day of the Chilean drummer and percussionist.

The meeting is organized by the Directorate of Artistic Cultural Linkage of the Catholic University of Valparaíso and includes an educational Concert at 11:00 a.m., a Percussion Expo at 4:00 p.m., a Conversation with Juanita Parra at 5:00 p.m. and a closing concert at 7:00 p.m. (free entry with prior registration).
