They do not rule out cutting routes: Truckers call on the Government for obstacles to entering Argentina | National

Truckers demanded that the Government intervene in response to the disposition of the Argentine authorities who are applying an old rule on the length of trucks, making it impossible for them to pass to the Magallanes region, not ruling out roadblocks.

Various reactions have been caused in the Magallanes region by the situation experienced by truckers who were returned from Argentina after crossing the Cardenal Samoré border crossing, having to return to the city of Osorno.

Let us remember that Chilean transporters had already experienced obstacles in their movement to Argentine territory, given the entry into force of a provision that restricts the length of trucks.

He president of the Punta Arenas Transporters’ Union Association, Carlos Estrada, He was emphatic in pointing out that if these types of problems are not solved, they will take other measures.

“If there was an immediate response from Transport, from Chilean Roads, and we started doing the same in Monte Aymond, stopping or returning Argentine trucks that come by in kilos or in length, this would be a negotiation tool, but “Our authorities do not react and they return the trucks to us, and the Argentines here do and undo,” he lashed out.

In that sense, the trucker leader asked to “sit down to negotiate with it and say ‘Well, if you want to do Argentina-Argentina through Chile, that is, unite Río Grande with Río Gallegos, like we need to unite Osorno with Punta Sands; Well, we both have a problem’ and let’s sit down and talk.”

“If our authorities continue not to react, this has no solution and is clearly a serious risk of shortages. We are going to have to make a road block and end the supply of Argentine Tierra del Fuego,” Estrada warned.

Let us remember that the controversial rule reported on the Argentine side, which restricts the length of loading machines, especially those that use the Cardenal Antonio Samoré Pass in Puyehue, to complete the stretch known as “Chile-Chile”, where transportation arrives through Trans-Andean Patagonia with supplies to the southern southern zone of our country.

In fact, according to El Pingüino, it is estimated that there are 80,000 kilos of non-perishable food that have not been able to reach Magallanes, due to the controversial rule.
