This Saturday, June 22, starting at 11:00 am, the 14th version of the Fête de la Musique/Music Festival – Manizales 2024 will be held, an event that takes place in accordance with its tradition within the framework of the solstice of summer and with the aim of disseminating, supporting and democratizing the music of the world and the territory, an event that in 13 cities in Colombia is organized by the French Alliance Network, as reported by Marcela Echeverri, general director of the French Alliance of Manizales.

This year, the FDLM, under the motto “One Spirit”, the poster includes musical proposals under a festive and popular aesthetic, which transmits common values to the community that the music represents. Music is something that we experience physically, live and that we share; invites us to enjoy, to sing, reflect, dance, play sports, to be one with the world. In this version there will also be cultural ventures during the event, a space in association with the Festicollage collective.

The Ernesto Gutiérrez Park in the center of the city will be the main stage where more than 10 hours of live music will be witnessed with 12 musical proposals in total with an aesthetic commitment that ranges from rock / indie / alternative / Andean electro / Andean and Latin American music, flamenco rhythms and French cumbia that will be distributed like this:

A special invitation to Maria Antonia Márquez, student at Colegio Anglohispano, who will perform with a repertoire in French; 7 musical projects from the city of Manizales; 2 groups from the municipalities of Caldas: Riosucio and Samaná and 2 French proposals on stage.

The Fête de la Musique this Saturday, June 22, will once again be a meeting between emerging and established musicians with the aim of promoting the diversity of local and regional music, consolidating artistic processes, and stimulating the emergence and development of innovative artistic proposals. In addition, this year there will be an academic agenda of musical production and executive production workshops that will be held after the main concert, in alliance with the Batuta Foundation.

The Fête de la Musique launched with musical bands, media and guests at the headquarters of the French Alliance in Manizales, a space in which the organizing team and musicians expressed their expectations and visions about this musical event.

About the musical projects on the poster:

“Music is emotional well-being, it is healing and it allows us to live other experiences,” said Juan Ricardo Orozco, founder of the Juanrío project that will be part of the poster in this 14th edition.

“Now there is a hybridization between genres like metal and punk, which no longer looks between crests and wicks, but rather tries to unite, because apparently from music, the same thing is sought, it is the noise that one carries in one’s veins. and for the one who lives” expressed Juan Domingo Bolaños, a member of the Manizale band Corrosión Cerebral.

Eloisa Castillo Torres, cultural coordinator of AF Manizales and producer of the event added that: “This year we have a fusion of rhythms and genres, between projects with a long history such as Saqueazipa by Riosucio, which has been on stage for more than 40 years, and more recent projects. like Juanrío and medium ones like Reset de Samaná, which will celebrate 10 years on our stage.” Although unfortunately no projects with female musical representation were presented in this edition’s call, this is a call to groups and projects made up of female musicians to participate in the following calls.

The Fête de la Musique is an international celebration that was born in France in 1982 from an initiative of the Minister of Culture, Jack Lang.
