Using rubber bands with fake fingerprints, a subject tried to evade the biometric readers of a bank in the south-west of Bogotá. The incident occurred when the man approached the bank in order to carry out a procedure in the name of another person. After capturing him, the authorities found several ID cards on the man.

Bogotá Police patrolmen were alerted to the anomalies, according to Major Nelson Perdomo, commander of the Puente Aranda police station. “When we requested the subject for a check, we found that some of his fingerprints coincided with the identity that he told us, but others corresponded to another person,” said the officer.

This led the uniformed officers to inspect the hands of the accused and found the polymers with the fingerprints of another citizen who he intended to impersonate.

“This man, 58 years old, is left at the disposal of the competent authority for his respective prosecution and must answer for the crime of personal falsehood,” concluded the commander.

This fact is added to the capture of two people who were manipulating ATMs in the Restrepo neighborhood. There, uniformed officers from the Antonio Nariño Police Station managed to capture them when they were trying to block an ATM with a handmade device. At the time of the criminal act, private security personnel alerted authorities about suspicious activities by manipulating electronic equipment.

When officers arrived, they surprised two individuals inside the ATM inserting an object into the opening where the cash comes out. During the search, authorities found that the object was going to be used to copy information with magnetic stripes.
