President Gustavo Petro came to Cauca
for the launch of a mission in that department with which the Government seeks to respond to the serious situation of public order. From there, the president responded to the mayor of Cali, Alejandro Eder, about the possibility of resuming bombings in some areas and avoiding the strengthening of armed groups. The president assured that it is not possible to do so and launched a proposal to prevent drug traffickers from continuing to add minors to their ranks.
“If the drug traffickers build the highway, they will win over the population. If that happens, the children take up arms and bombs cannot be carried out. The children of Cauca become the shield of those armed against the State. There are 350 children recruited from indigenous groups, that for me is a crime against humanity. One child is a hostage, when there are several it is a hostage taking and when it is all the time it is a systematic taking. “They have taken the population of Cauca as the object of a crime against humanity so that the State does not clash militarily against those in business, who continue to enrich themselves with the blood of the Colombian people,” he assured.
What the president asks is that a social department be developed led by Military forces
and supported by the State, That is to say, that the works in conflict zones be carried out by the Army, to prevent these projects from stopping progress due to extortion or intimidation by criminal gangs that end up taking charge of the infrastructure and therefore, says the president, winning over the population. .
During his visit to Cauca, the president also referred to the resources of Ocad Paz, explaining that the money allocated to this they were lost and revealed that next week the Department of National Planning will reveal what it found when it visited the works under its charge.
