Navy, Carabineros, Firefighters and municipal teams maintain coordination with the frontal system. Flooding and landslides are some of the main consequences of the intense frontal system that is affecting the commune. With the DOH, the flow of the waters of the estuaries is monitored.

Given the possible overflowing of the Reñaca estuary, Mayor Macarena Ripamonti requested the urgent constitution of a regional command to respond to the emergency in time.

“The Hydraulic Works management has contacted us to inform us that the overflow of the Reñaca estuary is imminent, in the sectors from the Gastón Hamel bridge to the Riveros bridge, so we have urgently requested the constitution of a regional command together with the Ministry of National Defense to proceed with coordination from the Navy, Senapred, Carabineros, Firefighters and we make all municipal capabilities available, especially the officials of the Reñaca Delegation,” he pointed out.

The community leader, who has been on the ground in charge of the tasks carried out by the groups of municipal workers in the areas where emergencies have occurred, reported at the end of the Cogrid that was carried out together with Firefighters and Police that “there are more of 1,200 active emergencies in Viña del Mar, about 800 of them of high severity in practically all the hills and in the center of Viña del Mar.”

And he noted that “we are with teams deployed from the social area, from the Secpla and from Operations and Services, taking people out, taking them to safe spaces within the shelters that we have enabled. We ask for your patience, since we are deployed with all our capacity.”
