Diario La Rioja: After Milei

The second unofficial visit to Spain in just a month by the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, has led to a national diatribe that this Saturday continued to be exploited by those who seem to glimpse some kind of political advantage from the pernicious loss of the better values of diplomacy in relations between both countries. It is, in fact, reprehensible that Milei insisted on Friday, when collecting the international medal from the Community of Madrid, in his most extreme messages against social justice and repeated, even if veiled, his attacks against President Sánchez. But the insistent appeals of the Executive for Alberto Núñez Feijóo to portray himself and the attempt to equate the PP with the extreme right raise the suspicion of an interest in the disapproval of Milei that goes further and that contributes to the prevailing polarization. A polarization to which Isabel Díaz Ayuso is no stranger, whose institutional position does not empower her either to try to bypass the Government in its foreign policy or to interpret that the inclination of all Madrid residents is towards permanent litigation with Moncloa. Feijóo’s PP would have to underline its distance from a leader far from the central channel with which Spaniards identify.
