Oscar David Reyes explains the importance of placing global conflicts on the local public agenda, and combating the lack of interest in not having them occur in the immediate environment

The visit to San Luis Potosí of Mohamed Saadat, ambassador of Palestine in Mexicoopens a reflection on the thought of disinterest in talking about global issues that occur in other regions of the worldmotivated by the fact that they do not occur in the immediate social context.
However, for Oscar David Reyes Medrano, member of the Potosino Committee in Support of the Palestinian People, stated that This disinterest allows Israel’s acts against Palestine, considered inhumane, to continue to be perpetuated.
“The fact that we join in, even though we are from San Luis Potosí, with an issue that is on the other side of the world, It is important because we help set precedents for how the international community should conduct itself.including us in the face of these problems,” he mentioned.
Reyes Medrano referred to the concept of “glocalities”, a link between the local and the global, and through this, it is promoted that from San Luis there is support for this region of the country, call on the population to raise awareness and create common sense.
Finally, despite the existence of a part of the population, Oscar David perceives that a greater part of society assumes a position of support for the Palestinian people, and very few have turned to supporting Israel or disinterest; He added that this last one is the demographic portion that must be worked with.
“None of us are exempt from these conflicts growing, repeating themselves and from the same impunity being sustained again. “That is why it is important to support Palestine, demand that its authorities recognize the Palestinian state, and call for a ceasefire,” he shared.
