The day before, a car loaded with explosives exploded near the police substation of the Remolino district, located in the jurisdiction of the municipality of Taminango, which also caused a dozen injuries in addition to the deaths, including a uniformed man.
According to local media reports, the area of the explosion is under the influence of the Franco Benavides Front of the Central General Staff (EMC), commanded by alias Mata, for whom a reward of 50 million pesos (approximately 12,500 dollars per year) is offered. current change).
“Alias Mata is the one we are looking for right now. In this action, we regret the death of a uniformed Police officer, as well as two people from the community, here in the Remolino sector,” said Zapata.
Also the day before, an attack in the town of Santa Isabel, Curumaní, in the department of Cesar (northeast), left one police officer dead and another injured.
After the events, the president of the country Gustavo Petro rejected the attacks in both departments and regretted the death of the deceased.
He affirmed that these events will not stop the offensive against illegal groups that attack the civilian population.

The southwestern region of Colombia is currently experiencing an escalation in violence, due to the increase and intensification of clashes between the insurgent group Estado Mayor Central (EMC) and the Army, mainly in the regions of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño.
