The journey ‘Sailing to the Heart of Magdalena’ arrived at Soplaviento

Maria Catalina Guzman Martinez, resident of the municipality of Soplaviento, Bolivar, was the first beneficiary of the journey ‘Sailing to the Heart of Magdalena: I fell in love with Bolivar’. This woman, with reduced mobility, received a new wheelchair at the door of her house, which she had needed for eight years.

“My life before was very uncomfortable since I live in precarious conditions. My parents are older adults and depend on me. Now with this chair my life is going to change,” said María.

This journey is led by the Government of Bolívar and the National Navy, and is carried out on board the Amphibious Landing Ship ARC Golfo de Morrosquillo.

The Government and the National Navy hope to benefit 2,000 people in this municipalitythrough health services, recreational days, driver education talks, civil registration, migration, among others.

In this first stop, which is planned to visit 8 municipalities of the department of Bolívar, different agencies of the Government of Bolívar participated with all their institutional offerings, as well as the Free University, the Agrarian Bank, Colombia Migration, Public Instruments, the Delegate Superintendence for Notaries and French Aesthetics.

The Secretary of the Interior, Javier Doriasaid that the purpose is to address the needs of the population, carrying out the “Justo Bolívar” program. “We cannot allow impunity or the community to take justice into its own hands, that is why we travel to the municipalities to bring all the attention in terms of access to justice,” he said.

According to him Marine Lieutenant Colonel, Freddy Anderson Cortés Otálora, Head of the Comprehensive Action Department of the Caribbean Naval Force, nearly 2,000 people from the municipality of Soplaviento benefited from this institutional offer.

He Ministry of Justice provided technical assistance regarding basic concepts on gender and diversity; The Superintendency of Notaries facilitated issuances of Civil Registry; and the National Civil Registry offered identification and identity card services.

One of the most important services is provided by Migration Colombia, with Temporary Protection permits to the migrant population.
