During the weekends in June for the anniversaries of the deaths of Martín Miguel de Güemes and Manuel Belgrano (Flag Day), more than 2.6 million tourists traveled around the country, with a total expenditure of 411,000 million pesos.

“When adding the two dates, tourists had seven days to travel, when in June 2023 there were only four. As a result, 15.3% more people were mobilized this time than in 2023.

Some 800,000 traveled from June 14 to 17, for the commemoration of Martín Miguel de Güemes, and 1.8 million did so this weekend for Flag Day. There were many late arrivals with counter sales,” according to a report from the Argentine Confederation of Medium Enterprises (CAME).

The report indicates that Tucumán, Córdoba, and Jujuy were the most chosen provinces, with destinations that exceeded 90 percent occupancy.

The most visited areas were Tafí Viejo and Tafí del Valle, in Tucumán, with 99 and 95 percent occupancy, while the Quebrada de Humahuaca and Tilcara. in Jujuy, they reached 87 and 82, and in Villa General Belgrano, in Córdoba, they reached 85 and Cafayate, in Salta with 74 percent.

Córdoba city reached 94 percent occupancy, while towns in San Luis such as Balde and San Gerónimo reached 100 percent.

In Tandil, in the province of Buenos Aires, 87 percent occupancy was recorded and in the city of Santa Fe, 86 percent.

On the other hand, in the southernmost region of the country, in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, 72 percent of occupied places were reached, while Patagonian destinations such as San Martín de los Andes and Bariloche exceeded 87 and 82 percent, respectively.

For its part, the General Business Confederation of the Argentine Republic (CGER) celebrated the tourist movement during the June holidays, with numbers that it defined as “interesting.”

“This fact should be taken as a parameter to lay the foundations for the productive recovery of all economic sectors, that is, that activity can occur without generating inflation or any other inconvenience for the goals that the authorities intend to obtain,” said the president of the business entity, Marcelo Fernández, in dialogue with NA.
