On this Sunday afternoon, a new attack with explosives was recorded in a rural area of Jamundi (Valle del Cauca) against troops of the National Army that has left three soldiers injured so far.
“A situation arose related to improvised explosive devices activated by two of our platoons of the Infantry Battalion No. 8 Battle of Pichincha of the Third Brigade in the rural area of Jamundí,” indicated the National Army, through a statement.

According to official information, the injured soldiers are being treated and do not have serious injuries. The authorities are reinforcing the security device in the area.
This attack would be the third that has been recorded in recent weeks in the municipality of Jamundí, located a few hours from Cali. The most recent was an explosive device that was detonated in Robles Park.
Precisely, on this Sunday morning, Troops from the 23rd Infantry Battalion of the Third Brigade managed to stop a truck loaded with explosives that intended to attack one of their facilities in Cartago (Valle del Cauca). The truck was made available to the corresponding authorities to carry out the investigation.
The Ministry of Defense has cataloged the acts of violence that have increased in the southwest of Colombia as a response by the dissidents of the extinct FARC to the lifting of the ceasefire and the implementation of military strategies to recover the areas controlled by the criminal group.
By the way, this Friday, June 21, the President Gustavo Petro and his cabinet moved to Popayán to launch the Cauca Mission, which aims to carry out military actions to confront the EMC and launch public works in the areas most affected by the conflict.
