Older people, people with disabilities, children, young people, women and the LGBTIQ+ community were the animators of the Folk Festival.
With great enthusiasm, representing the customs and traditions of the region, the different Population groups of the city were the animators of the great San Juan Parade in Ibagué.
More than 200 people made up the four groups: disability with caregivers; childhood, adolescence and youth; old people; and social organizations of women and the sexually diverse LGBTIQ+ population.
“It is fabulous to see this extravagance of festivities and folklore from all our population groups. They have put the best of their attitude and talent to enjoy these festivities; their effort and dedication to represent the traditions of the region in the highest level is to be appreciated”highlighted Carolina Hurtado Barrera, Secretary of Community Social Development.
The journey included cultural performances and the accompaniment of the ambassadors of Inclusive Folklore and Senior Citizens 2024-2025. Likewise, it was enlivened by car audio and dances by the Dancusavi group.
“I am very happy to participate as a dancer in this San Juan parade. As a child I already feel identified with all the culture that we carry in our blood and that today we lovingly show to the Ibaguereños,” mentioned Adalberto Daza, member of the social component.
It is noteworthy that a Pink Safe Point on Fifth Avenue and 37th Street bis, lane going up, where citizens can seek help in case of cases of gender violence.
Furthermore, two inclusive points, in Carrera Tercera with 9th Street in front of the DIAN and in ‘La Quinta’ with 39so that people with disabilities can enjoy comfortably, where they previously registered
