The Vladimir Ilich Lenin Provincial Hospital of Holguín denied the occurrence of a femicide in one of its Surgery roomswhose case was reported last week by the independent Cuban Women’s Network.

According to a note published by the medical institution on its Facebook profile, “this is a chronic alcoholic patient who was admitted to the Surgery service with obstructive jaundice for study“, who “was accompanied the entire time by her husband with a similar background.”

The Hospital added that in the first 24 hours he presented an unfavorable evolution and in the morning hours While she was being assisted by her husband in the bathroom, she suffered a loss of consciousness. and she was immediately transferred to the central surgical unit and from there to the intensive care room where she died hours later “as a result of irreversible shock.”

The note, however, admitted that there was concern about a possible violent eventafter which the law enforcement agencies were contacted.

Taking into account the patient’s background and the characteristics of her spouse and given the concern raised by a possible violent act, information was given to the Police and Legal Medicine.
