The Municipality promotes tourism with international operators

The opening of the National and International Famtour of Tour Operators and Guides was held at the Altos de la Viña Hotel, a meeting that brought together journalists and tour operators from various countries, who are exploring the charms of the city and the region, within the framework of the culmination of an extra long weekend that produced a highly positive balance for San Salvador de Jujuy, standing out for its high hotel occupancy.

In this regard, Luciano Córdoba, Secretary of Culture and Tourism, explained that it was “a Famtour, where there are journalists and operators of the tourism sector who come from various countries to learn about our culture, our tourist destination, the charms it has not only San Salvador de Jujuy, but of the province in general. They will be touring the four regions of Jujuy every day this week, starting today in the capital city.”

The event, organized by the Sustainable Tourism Network, represents a significant collaboration between the public and private sectors, involving local and foreign tour operators, “we are happy to welcome tour operators from these other countries, from Peru, from Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay and Brazil, for us it is very important to participate because they are the ones who will later tell and sell the tourist destination of San Salvador and the province in their own cities,” Córdoba highlighted.

Regarding the impact of the recent long holiday, Córdoba expressed its satisfaction, “we are very happy since San Salvador de Jujuy has been one of the 4 or 5 most chosen cities within the Jujuy destination. Particularly in San Salvador we have had more than 5,000 tourists visit during the long weekend, we have had an average occupancy of 83% of the beds we have in the city and we have generated 2.8 nights of overnight stays, that is, we are increasingly closer to people who come to the city to stay 3 nights.”

The economic impact of this tourist influx is notable, “that makes the destination grow, generates an important economic spillover and of course impact on the local economic development of our communities, on the tour operators, on the local gastronomy, on the city in general. ”said Córdoba, underlining the importance of these events and tourism in general for the local economy.

Finally, Córdoba expressed his expectations for the next winter season, “the balance is very positive and now there are very few days left until the winter season comes, of which we also have very good expectations and we hope that everyone who comes knows our destiny, because San Salvador always awaits you with open arms and you will find a very hospitable city, and above all a city that is becoming more dynamic and reforming and always with something new.”
