Colombia and Paraguay face each other at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, for the first day of group D of the Copa América 2024. With a partial 2-0 victory, the Colombian team had its first loss in the championship in just 25 minutes of play. Jhon Janer Lucumí, the second center back, was injured in his right leg.

The injury play occurred around 20 minutes into the game when Julio Enciso, Paraguay’s winger, took a mid-range shot that Lucumí deflected into the corner kick with his right leg. The ball hit him on the knee and the player immediately fell to the ground. and had to be treated by the Colombian medical team.
Lucumí stood up and continued on the playing field for a few minutes. Unfortunately he didn’t last long and ended up asking for a change after 25 minutes.. Yerry Mina entered his place. The Cagliari centre-back stood as the first centre-back and Davinson Sánchez moved as the second.
Colombia is winning 2-0 with goals from Daniel Muñoz at 32 minutes and Jefferson Lerma at 41′. The two scores were headed, both with assists from James Rodríguez.
