The full-back of the Colombian National Team, Daniel Muñoz, spoke after Colombia’s 2-1 victory against Paraguay in their debut in the Copa América. Muñoz, one of the scorers of the match, highlighted both the difficulty of the match and the importance of the National Team’s undefeated record of 24 matches.
“It was an intense match as we had planned, Paraguay is a National Team that was going to come out and propose with its way of playing. Thank God we got the two goals early,” commented Muñoz, highlighting the planning and early execution that allowed Colombia to take advantage on the scoreboard.
Regarding the second half, Muñoz pointed out that it was a particularly intense stage of the game. “We couldn’t score the third goal and they managed to score. “We knew it was going to get complicated,” he said, acknowledging the difficulties the team faced in maintaining its lead.
Muñoz also spoke about his ability to get into the box and score goals, a skill he has developed throughout his career. “It is a quality that I have always had. I developed it in the clubs I have been in and I decided to do it in the National Team as well,” he stated, demonstrating his confidence in his offensive ability despite his defensive role.
Regarding the undefeated streak of 24 games, Muñoz expressed his assessment, but stressed the importance of maintaining focus on the main objective. “It’s something we value, but we don’t have to focus on that. It is better to continue game by game, because the objective is only one: to be champion. There is no point in having 200 victories and not winning anything,” he concluded, highlighting the team’s mentality of looking forward and focusing on the final goal of lifting the trophy.
With this victory, Colombia not only begins its path in the Copa América on the right foot, but also reaffirms its commitment and ambition to continue making history and, more importantly, to achieve the title they so long for.
