Twelve establishments achieve the distinction of historic tavern of CórdobaPATRICIA CACHINERO
Twelve establishments have achieved the historic tavern distinction of Cordovagranted by the Córdoba City Council. The president of the Municipal Institute of Economic Development and Employment (Imdeec), Blanca Torrent, reported today on the granting of this distinction that seeks to value these corners of the city’s history and preserve “the rich tavern tradition” of Córdoba. The badges are awarded after a year of intense work in which a commission has assessed the documentation provided by the establishments, which attests to their tavern tradition of at least 75 years (two of the award-winning taverns El Pisto and Salinas are close to celebrating their centenary).
Among the files presented by the hoteliers to achieve this seal, deeds, newspaper clippings and internal documents have been provided that attest to the history of the establishments. The Municipal Archive of Córdoba has also done important work on document compilation, as reported by the delegate.
Historical taverns of Córdoba
The historic taverns are Bodegas Campos, Regina Tavern, El Pisto Tavern, Seneca Plateros Society, El Abuelo Plateros Society, María Auxiliadora Plateros Society, San Francisco Plateros Society, Casa Pepe de the Jewish quarterCasa Rubio, Tavern Saint MarinaTaberna Fueenseca and Taberna Salinas.
Requirements
In addition to having at least 75 years of uninterrupted history, the establishments have had to meet one of the following requirements: be relevant to traditional culture and history Cordoba in the material, artistic, economic and social aspects, the maintenance of which is worthy of protection; or contain elements with historical or heritage value expressly protected or notable, as well as furniture elements that are part of the traditional image of the tavern or constitute its hallmarks.
Blanca Torrent has also reported that the City Council will now organize a route through these historic taverns to help the promotion and visibility of these establishments, and will create a QR code to be able to visit them. Likewise, the president of Imdeec has explained that she has proposedor launch a new program of Cordoban taverns in order to gradually incorporate to other taverns that are very close to achieving the historic tavern seal. Imdeec is convinced that this seal can help strengthen the cultural identity of Córdoba and add these taverns to the city’s tourist attractions.
Ordinance turns one year old
It is worth remembering that Last May 3 marked one year since the tavern ordinance came into force. Then, in addition, the period to request this denomination opened. The ordinance includes the creation of a registry and a commission of historical taverns. The Córdoba City Council then committed to promoting measures to support and promote these premises, it may call financial aid and establish tax benefits.
