Córdoba CF

After consummating the relegation to Second RFEF with Badajoz in the Nuevo Arcángel, Adilson has achieved redemption in the same venue. Córdoba managed to beat Barça B in the second leg of the final of the playoff for promotion to the Second Division and confirms its return to the silver category of Spanish football.

Despite the feat achieved, the match did not start in the best possible way for the Andalusians. Héctor Fort put the Blaugrana reserve team ahead in the 14th minute of the game after a powerful run down the right wing, which culminated with a shot at the goalkeeper’s long post.

Córdoba’s tie was going to come after half an hour of play. Alberto Toril managed to win the duel against his pair inside the area to head a Calderón lateral cross into goal, putting the tie in the light.

With a 1-1 tie, the break was going to take place in Córdoba, but the draw was not going to last much longer. Just ten minutes after starting the second half, Toril again managed to score the second goal for the caliphs and his own on his own account.

The green and white striker took advantage of a faulty release of the ball by Barça B to define with a shot that put the score at 2-1 and Córdoba momentarily in the Second Division.

Despite Barça B’s attempts to get the tie, the Caliph defense remained firm and avoided greater evils. Finally, the referee declared the end of the clash and confirmed the promotion of Adilson Mendes’ team.

An Adilson who has completed a very valuable season. The Portuguese winger has played a total of 39 games in which he has scored nine goals and provided two assists, improving the figures he had last season with Badajoz.
